5. Cookies

5.1 Technical or functional cookies

Some cookies ensure that certain parts of the website work properly and that your user preferences remain known. By placing functional cookies, we make it easier for you to visit our website. This way, you do not need to repeatedly enter the same information when visiting our website and, for example, the items remain in your shopping cart until you have paid. We may place these cookies without your consent.

These are set by us, never shared, and cover only the things the website cannot do without:

  • Your cookie choice, so we do not ask again on every page.
  • Your booking in progress — the branch you chose, the tyres in your basket, the registration you looked up and any discount code — so you do not lose it by moving between pages or coming back later.
  • Signing in to your account. If you sign in, a secure cookie keeps you signed in for up to two hours. It cannot be read by scripts in your browser.

5.2 Statistics cookies

We use statistics cookies to optimize the website experience for our users. With these statistics cookies we get insights in the usage of our website. We ask your permission to place statistics cookies.

We use Google Analytics 4, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to count visits and see which pages and adverts lead to bookings. We also record how you first arrived — the search, advert or link that brought you here — so we can tell which marketing is worth doing.

5.3 Marketing/Tracking cookies

Marketing/Tracking cookies are cookies or any other form of local storage, used to create user profiles to display advertising or to track the user on this website or across several websites for similar marketing purposes.

We use Google Ads to measure which adverts lead to bookings and enquiries. We ask your permission before any advertising cookie is set. If you decline, our adverts still run; we simply cannot tell which of them worked.

5.4 Embedded and third-party content

Some pages include content served by other companies. These place cookies only when the content loads:

  • Stripe, if you pay for a booking online. Stripe handles the card details; we never see or store your card number.
  • YouTube, on pages with a video. Nothing is requested from YouTube until you press Play, and we use its no-cookie player.
  • Google Maps, where a branch page shows a map.

We link to our social media pages, but we do not embed social media content, so visiting our website does not place cookies for those networks.

6. Your choice, and changing your mind

When you first visit, we ask before setting anything beyond the essentials, and we set nothing for statistics or marketing until you choose. You can choose:

  • Accept all Statistics and marketing.
  • Analytics only Statistics, no marketing.
  • Essential only Nothing but the cookies in 5.1.

Your choice is remembered in your browser. You can change it at any time using the button in section 1, or by clearing the cookies and site data for this website in your browser settings.

7. Where your information goes

Google LLC is based in the United States, and information collected by Google Analytics and Google Ads may be processed there under the UK's approved transfer arrangements. Stripe processes payment details as its own controller. You can read more about your rights, how long we keep information and how to contact us in our Privacy Policy.

Further information about cookies and your rights is available from the Information Commissioner's Office at https://ico.org.uk/for-the-public/online/cookies.
